Should Negan Be Free?

Negan has been locked up in the cell for a while now, do you think that it is time that he should be released?

Sonya says:

"I’m really ambivalent about this. Part of me will never get over what he did to Glenn and Abe and says no, let him rot forever. But at the same time another part of me says that The Saviors are gone now so Negan is alone and he wouldn’t be as much of a threat. And with The Whisperers coming up I do think they are going to need someone as diabolically clever and morally fluid as Negan to fight them."

Sara says:

"I think Negan has been in there long enough. I think it’s time for the Alexandria council to release him but with a close eye of course. Negan could possibly be of great help to the community, and I would think that hopefully Negan would be ready to join forces with them."

Jeffrey says:

"I’m not ready to say that Negan should be released just yet, but there is definitely a change in him that is both refreshing and promising. I definitely wouldn’t trust him to have free reign in the community, but I do think we could get to that point one day. Negan’s post-War arc in the comics is excellent and I’m really interested to see if his television counterpart follows the same route."

Sarabeth says:

"It’s hard to say what to do with Negan. Now that the Saviors are dead, he doesn’t pose a threat the way he might have before. The trick would be finding something for him to do. He is very valuable in terms of his experience, both as a leader and as someone who kept a community thriving. The key is letting him help without giving him the reins. So I think it’s something that needs to be examined. I don’t think he’s serving a purpose in that cell, and if Judith can freely talk to him then clearly he’s not viewed as a major threat anymore."
