The Walking Dead fans throw a Richonne baby shower to help kids

Fans of The Walking Dead are celebrating the Richonne baby by raising money for one of Andrew Lincoln’s favorite charities which helps children.

There are a lot of reasons why The Walking Dead fans are great, but one of them is their commitment to helping others. And two fans of the show are raising money to help kids inspired by Andrew Lincoln, Danai Gurira, and little RJ who is the son of Rick and Michonne on The Walking Dead.

The Two Dead Chicks, who have their own podcast, are fervent Richonne fans who were so excited about the Richonne baby that they decided to throw a Richonne baby shower fundraiser to raise money to support Barnardo’s. Barnardo’s is a U.K. charity that Andrew Lincoln supports and they do amazing work advocating for children. Barnardo’s provides direct support for at-risk and disadvantaged children and they also lobby for legal protections and advances that directly impact children.

When asked what inspired them to start this fundraiser Dead Chick Melissa Stephens said:

"My best friend Kia and I are big Walking Dead fans and huge Richonners. There are many great podcasts out there that cover the show, but we wanted to really talk about it from the female perspective. We weren’t finding as many folks talking about the stuff we love so much about the show and we knew if we loved these things, there were bound to other people out there who did, too.Our listeners are huge Richonne fans, just like we are and we have been collectively hoping for a baby for them for so long! Once we got word that Rick Jr. was no longer a dream and would be a reality, we decided to have a little fun by throwing a virtual shower for baby RJ and use that to also celebrate Andy Lincoln’s time on the show.We chose Barnardo’s because we know how close it is to his heart. We’ve both had the honor of meeting Andy and truly, there are not words eloquent enough to describe what an amazing human he is. He has given us all such a gift by bringing Rick Grimes to life and we wanted to honor that. Not only that, but he and Danai have both brought together so many people who love their love.There are few fandoms as loving, supportive, and giving as The Walking Dead family- especially our amazing Richonners! Our listeners have helped us raise money before to help a girls home in Nashville and truly, we are so blessed to have the love of these beautiful people!
