In “Who Are You Now” Carol and Michonne prove that they are mothers that are not to be messed with on The Walking Dead.

The six-year time jump that took place in The Walking Dead brought forth a lot of new changes with the characters, especially for Carol and Michonne.

With Rick Grimes having departed from Alexandria, Michonne is taking on more responsibility for leading the community and protecting her people. Michonne also has two children now to look after, Judith Grimes and her son that she had with Rick, RJ. Just like any mother, Michonne wants to make the community that she is living in safe for her children.

In “Who Are You Now”, we meet a new group which is led by a woman named Magna. Judith Grimes finds this group and brings them back to stay in Alexandria. Michonne isn’t thrilled with Judith’s gesture because clearly in the past six years, something bad happened with newcomers that were brought into the group.

While Michonne rejected Magna’s group from staying in Alexandria, she did offer to take them to reside at The Hilltop. Michonne’s actions were that of what any mom would have done. She was looking out for the safety of her children, and the community.

Similarly, in The Kingdom, we see the same situation. Carol is now Henry’s mother and she is looking out for his safety in every way she can. Six years later the Saviors still have it out for Carol and this time, Carol was not backing down. Carol knew that she had to protect her son and she took matters into her own hands and lit Jed and the rest of the Saviors on fire.

While this may have come off as harsh, Carol was doing what she needed to do to protect her son. The Saviors had years to clean up their act, and they decided to become a threat again to Carol and her group. Carol is not taking any chances on anyone bringing harm to her or her family and her actions were definitely justified.

Next. Rick and Shane reunite for Rick's final episode. dark
