Daryl has a new dog to keep him company as Carol visits along with adopted son Henry on the latest episode of The Walking Dead titled “Stradivarius”.

Carol and Henry will visit an isolated Daryl at his campsite save for one lone companion a new pet dog. Without Rick Grimes around, Daryl has seemingly reverted to who he was prior to Rick and more in line to his days with Merle… A loner. Sure, Daryl could run a community if his hand was ‘forced’ as seen when he was in charge of Sanctuary much to his chagrin but it’s not a natural state of being for him. Rather, Daryl is at his calmest state when he’s separated from the fray, away from community politics, and it’s just him and the wilderness.

Of course, Carol does not look to be pleased in the sneak peek trailer for tonight’s episode, asking him, “When was the last time you ate?” Daryl replying, “The dog ate yesterday,” meaning he didn’t. Did Maggie sparing Negan sour him on their friendship as well? Daryl might look at things that if he hadn’t diverted Rick on that day he might still be around (not knowing he’s still alive), and blames himself as he does for Glenn and Denise. The angel vested one has always had a penchant for blaming himself when things go wrong…

Meanwhile, breaking news from last week’s episode, The Whisperers’ “Where are they?” whisper tease stole the episode, leading to questions about these mysterious “walkers.” Will both Rosita and Eugene make it back in one piece? Eugene after all, was already traveling on one leg post jump from the tower. Dr. Smarty Pants has always had a knack for surviving on an impromptu plan, however, and Rosita is still by his side. On the other side of town, Michonne and Siddiq travel over to Hilltop to bring Judith’s rescued strangers to a safe haven. Magna appears to be the leader of the group and she hasn’t been happy with the way Michonne is running things but is going along for now.

Eventually, when the tables turn and Magna senses they have the upper hand, it wouldn’t surprise to see her turn on Michonne. Magna told Michonne last episode, “I wouldn’t want me around either if I had what you had,” suggesting Magna would like to have Michonne’s life. How long until she acts on those feelings during an episode of The Walking Dead?
