Daryl kills a snake while Carol watches. He drapes it around his neck and keeps going. She says he has been out there longer than he said he would be. Daryl asks about Ezekiel and she says he’s having a hard time letting go. She was hoping that Daryl would go with her to the Hilltop, and he asks if she wants him to babysit her son. She says Henry, like Ezekiel, is an idealist and he needs protection. But Daryl says he needs to learn, like they did.

Michonne takes Magna’s group back to their rig and it has been overrun by the herd. Magna looks devastated as the lingering walkers are cleared out. Connie stomps one on the head to kill it. Luke and Kelley take out their frustration on the walkers while Michonne watches. Magna gets emotional going through Bernie’s stuff and Yumiko suggests that she take something of his to remember him, but Magna can’t.

Siddiq picks up a recorder and tells Michonne about how the recorder was his first instrument but then his mother made him take up painting instead to save her nerves. Connie tells Siddiq that Luke has an obsession with musical instruments. Siddiq and Connie laugh and call it a fetish.

Michonne wants their weapons before going into Hilltop and this causes a debate. Michonne wanted to see if they were telling the truth and they were, but DJ and Siddiq will take them all the way in. Magna doesn’t want to go without their weapons but Yumiko suggests that they give it a shot. Luke and Kelly are definitely in agreement that going to Hilltop would be better than going off on their own.

Aaron is walking through the woods when Jesus attacks him. It looks like this is an ongoing battle because both men laugh and tease each other about letting their guard down. When Aaron accidentally punches Jesus he apologizes profusely and Jesus takes advantage of it. Aaron teases Jesus about the election and Jesus says Tara would be furious if she knew he was breaking protocols to be out so far without security. Aaron agrees, because he’s breaking rules too. They’re not sure about all of the rules, but one thing is clear: They need to bring the communities back together and the faire is how they’ll do it.

Suddenly they spot a flare and they ride off to see what it is. It’s Rosita, who is propped against a tree. She says she left Eugene in a barn. Jesus wants to move her to Hilltop because it’ll be dark soon. They hope Eugene will be safe until the next day.

Daryl cooks dinner for his guests as the dog brings the walker foot back to him. Daryl drops it into the fire. Carol praises his hospitality. Henry realizes that Carol wanted Daryl to be a chaperone. But more than anything Carol wants to do something else: She wants to cut Daryl’s hair. As she works he says that he knows she thinks he’s still looking for Rick, and for a while he was. There was no body. But then it got easier to stay there. Henry watches as his mother and Daryl share this moment together, of two friends who have been through it all. Later, as they’re eating, Henry asks Daryl about his scar and Daryl gets up to give the dog his dinner. He doesn’t want to talk about it. Carol watches with a frown.
