5 bold predictions for The Walking Dead 908
The mid-season finale is upon us and the stage is set for this to be a huge moment for The Walking Dead. Here are 5 bold predictions for “Evolution”.
The Walking Dead has been through two major time jumps within the span of eight episodes, and with the season 9 mid-season finale looming the stage is set for the arrival of the biggest threat the survivors have ever faced.
For the first time in a long time, fans aren’t entirely sure what’s going on with the survivors and the communities. There have only been two episodes post six-year time jump, and there are more questions than there are answers. That makes the tension even greater heading into the fall finale, because anything could happen.
Looking ahead to this week’s “Evolution” here are 5 bold predictions about what might happen.
The Whisperers will officially arrive
Fans of the comic books know all about the Whisperers but for fans of the television show who haven’t read the comics (like me) all we know is that there is something really weird happening with the walkers. They’re talking, and defending themselves, and changing direction. After this much time has passed there’s no way this is some kind of walker evolution, so there must be another explanation.
And there is: The Whisperers.
I won’t go into detail about who or what they are, or what they want. Rosita has seen them, though, and she knows that they need to be worried about them.
My prediction: We will see the Whisperers in all their gory glory before the end of the first half of the season.
The X scars will be explained
First we saw Michonne’s X scar on her back, and now we have seen that Daryl has the same scar in the same place.
It was weird enough to see that Michonne had one, but Daryl having one adds to the mystery. There’s a lot of speculation out there about what the scars are from and Daryl having one complicates it even more. Were they both in the same place, or did they receive them separately?
Whatever it is, the explanation will likely arrive sooner than later.
Magna’s group will stay with Michonne
Michonne’s plan was for Magna and her people to find safe haven at the Hilltop. Seeing how frigid her relationship is with the community makes that less likely. But in the face of trouble she might change her mind.
After fighting side by side with Magna, and seeing how Yumiko instantly took charge to help defend the whole group despite having their weapons taken from them, might have changed her mind.
This would be a very good result, because Magna and her people will make a great addition to any community they join. That’s part of the reason Michonne might soon change her mind, too. It doesn’t make sense to give away an ace in the hole, and Magna’s group would probably prefer Alexandria as a new home anyway. Given the choice, Luke, Connie and Kelly would choose Alexandria for sure, especially after seeing that Michonne wasn’t exactly welcomed with open arms.
Someone is going to die
It has been quiet. Too quiet.
So far in season 9 we haven’t lost a lot of characters. Sure, we lost the biggest character of all with Rick, but he didn’t really die and the only other deaths were the Saviors.
After six years everyone seems to have held it all together pretty well. The only person missing is Maggie and that’s because she left to be with Georgie. Everyone is accounted for and if we know anything at all about The Walking Dead it’s that peace never lasts. The Whisperers are coming and someone isn’t going to make it out alive.
The truth is going to hurt
Just as we haven’t managed to lose many people this season and the pain from losses will sting in the mid-season finale, so too will the truth hurt when we finally learn what in tarnation has been going on between Alexandria and the Hilltop.
Seriously, what gives?
The sneak peek gives us a huge clue. Diane knows Michonne and yet she made them drop their weapons? Red flag warning!
Something really bad must have happened between these two communities for that level of caution, and when fans learn the truth it will very likely mean that we won’t like those answers. We’re talking bad blood between two groups of people who used to be on the same side. It might change the way we see things moving forward.
