The Walking Dead, Stradivarius: Things To Note
By Liam O'Leary
13) This episode gets its name from the violin Michonne slices in half when she spies Luke admiring it, which was made by (And named after) the famed 17th Century instrument making Stradivarius family.
14) The fact Luke found the Stradivarius in a mansion in Philadelphia before the city (Or, at least, the mansion) was overrun by walkers, suggests he’s originally from Philadelphia. Where the others are from (Except for Yumiko, who has an obvious British accent), we don’t know.
15) As Michonne, Siddiq, DJ, and Magna’s group prepare to leave their shelter, Connie starts feeling the floor for vibrations. This is the first time in either Walking Dead show someone has used that method for detecting a herd of walkers.
16) While Connie feels the floor for vibrations, Siddiq attempts to convince Michonne to come with them to Hilltop, assuring her she won’t have to worry about Maggie, but Michonne balks at the suggestion, saying “We can’t take the risk”. “The risk”? What risk? Is Michonne afraid of how she’d react to Maggie? Earlier, I asked if Maggie blames herself for Rick’s “death”, but, perhaps, I have that backwards: Does Michonne blame Maggie for what happened to Rick?
17) Ironically, if Michonne does hold Maggie responsible for what happened to Rick, it would be something of a reversal of what Maggie had asked Michonne when she went to kill Negan to avenge Glenn in Rick’s final episode, “What Comes After”, because, at this point, Michonne has two children to raise alone, ostensibly because of Maggie.
18) Since this episode is the first time we see Bernie (Albeit as a walker; Incidentally, that’s four named walkers this season), now’s as good a time as any to count him as the ninth named character to die this season, though, technically, he’s the seventh, chronologically.
And, with that, we’ve concluded our Things To Note for this week. Was there anything you missed? Was there anything I missed? Feel free to throw in your things to note in the comments!
