One individual stood out more than then others when it came to the season 9 midseason finale of AMC’s The Walking Dead to be named the episode’s MVP.

Season 9 episode 8 of The Walking Dead gave fans a lot to take in at once. Magna’s group arrived at The Hilltop where it was learned some funky stuff went down in the past, Henry got into some teenage shenanigans, and the group went out after Eugene.

Throughout all of that, one individual was strong, smart, and showed some great leadership to be named the most valuable person from the midseason finale titled “Evolution” on Sunday, Nov. 25, 2018. After much consideration, a person was chosen.

The MVP from TWD 908 is Daryl Dixon

When it comes to wanting a scout or tracker, few are better than Daryl. He has been surviving in the wilderness for many years and has lived among the undead by living off fish, snakes, and other things, so it wasn’t shocking to see him being able to identify herds of the undead and understand their patterns.

Along the way, Daryl made plenty of attempts to move the group of walkers. He used a kitchen timer to give them more time and distance from the zombies, which was a pretty slick move fans saw from Enid in an earlier episode.

When the group needed more time to get Eugene to the horses, Daryl volunteered and stayed behind. He lit off firecrackers and had Dog bark at them, but the group kept moving toward their goal: Eugene and the others.

Daryl knew something was up at that point. He made the bold move to get back to the front of the group and check on Aaron, Jesus, and Eugene instead of returning to The Hilltop like he said he would after the distraction.

Finally, Daryl took the time to inspect the surprising foes they had just fought, revealing that they were not zombies at all but people wearing the skin of the undead to blend into the horde.

This was a tough decision to make. Jesus was another choice that could have been made since he stayed behind to fight the group of walkers while others worked on the gate at the cemetery, but Daryl made a similar move and survived while using his tracking skills, giving him the nod.
