Fear the Walking Dead’s Colman Domingo is a true Renaissance Man, and his latest play is closing after its run on on Broadway to go on a North American tour.

The TWD Family knows that Fear the Walking Dead star Colman Domingo is a Renaissance Man who can do just about anything. Playbill is reporting that Domingo’s Tony-nominated Summer: The Donna Summer Musical is going dark on Broadway after an impressive run, but with every closed door another one opens as it moves on to a North American tour in 2019.

The multi-talented Domingo co-authored the book for Summer: The Donna Summer Musical with Robert Cary and Des McAnuff, who is also the director. The musical played 27 previews and 289 performances after its March 28 arrival on Broadway and it will go dark on December 30. However, this isn’t the end for the story of the incredibly talented Donna Summer as the production will hit the road in 2019, launching a North American tour on September 30.

Summer: The Donna Summer Musical is the story of Donna Summer. Three actors – LaChanze, Ariana DeBose and Storm Lever – bring the music legend to life at three points in her career. The musical features over 20 Donna Summer hits, making it a fun experience for guests of all ages.

Domingo is no stranger to theater. Over the years he has written, performed and directed several theatrical productions. In 2015 alone his play Dot premiered at the Pamela Brown Auditorium and later that year he directed August Wilson’s Seven Guitars at the same venue.

Ever expanding his horizons, Domingo made his television directorial debut in 2018 with the season 4 episode of Fear the Walking Dead “Weak,” marking the first time a member of The Walking Dead cast from either franchise went behind the camera. He was followed by Michael Cudlitz, The Walking Dead alum who directed an episode of his show’s ninth season, and Andrew Lincoln is hoping to join the actor-director club in season 10.
