When it comes to joining The Walking Dead family and introducing the show’s newest and most terrifying threat, the Whisperers, Ryan Hurst’s tweet says it all.

Fans were elated to learn that actor Ryan Hurst would be joining The Walking Dead in season 9. While his character, the notorious Whisperer villain Beta, might wreak havoc for the survivors, it will be a lot of fun to see Hurst in action. Hurst took to social media to give fans a taste of what’s to come from Beta and the Whisperers when The Walking Dead returns in February.

If the Whisperers used social media, then Twitter would be their platform of choice. They don’t say much, clearly, because like the micro-blogging site they know how to pack a powerful punch in the fewest words possible.

Hurst’s tweet, then, is the perfect way to introduce the Whisperers: “We talk low. We walk slow. We kill….everyone. #Whisperers.”

For fans who haven’t read the comics all we know is based on the brief glimpse we had in the 9B preview. (He appears around the 0:41 mark)

Beta is a giant of a man who wears the skin of walkers to terrorize people. Rosita and Eugene encountered walkers that seemed to be talking to each other in episode 907, and then the TWD Family got their first look at the Whisperers in the mid-season finale when one of the Whisperers pivoted to block Jesus’ attack, stabbing and killing him.

With their perfect disguise and what seems to be the ability to control herd movement, the Whisperers are a threat like nothing fans have seen before. The Whisperers have a storied arc in the comics and fans have been looking forward to seeing them in action, despite the losses that are sure to result from their arrival.

Hurst has appeared in numerous movies and television shows, but he might be best known for his role as Harry “Opie” Winston in the hit show Sons of Anarchy. Fans will be able to see Hurst in action as Beta when The Walking Dead returns in February 2019.
