10. Pete Anderson

Introduction: Pete Anderson was Alexandria’s only doctor/surgeon, and happened to have a severe anger problem. His outbursts would result in him physically hitting his wife Jessie throughout their marriage. A drinker, Pete primarily got away with his actions because his skills as a doctor were vital to the community, and Jessie remained silent about the matter.

Once Rick became infatuated with Pete’s wife, a natural rivalry over Jessie almost tore the entire community to the ground. Their rumble on the street leads Deanna to consider kicking Rick Grimes out, only to be told by Rick, “Your way of doing things is done. Things don’t get better because you want them too!” Rick is pushed to act by Carol, who remembers what Ed did to her and believes Rick deserves happiness too.

Biggest moment of Villainy: A drunk, enraged Pete arrives on the scene with Michonne’s sword/katana and accidentally kills Deanna’s husband Reg (the architect of the whole Alexandria community)

Everybody Hurts Sometimes: Pete is defeated in hand-to-hand combat with Rick, humiliating him in front of his wife. After this day he plans to kill Rick and takes Michonne’s sword in order to do so.

The Good Side: Pete was the only doctor and surgeon in Alexandria, and removing him from the community spelled doom long-term.

First Appearance: “Remember” (season 5, episode 12)

Last Appearance: Living – “Conquer” (season 5, episode 16), Flashback sequence “First Time Again” (season 6, episode 1)

Cause of Death: Deanna gives Rick the okay to kill Pete after what happened to Reg, and he does so instantly by shooting Pete in the head with his Colt Python. Morgan walks in right in time to see it after being away for some time.

Memorable Quote: “What have you two been doing!” (To Jessie and Rick)
