The Walking Dead: 30 most heroic moments of all-time
By Sonya Iryna
The Walking Dead has had no shortage of truly heroic moments over the years but these 30 are the ones that define the humanity and the heart of the show.
The wild success of The Walking Dead can be attributed to several different factors, but one of the biggest is the show’s consistent focus on the inherent willingness that people have to sacrifice for others. Over and over again through the nine seasons that the show has been on the air. the characters on this show have proven that what matters most in dire circumstances is the relationships that people have.
Being in a community, sharing everything, depending on each other for survival, and enjoying fleeting moments of peace and joy together is really what matters when life has been stripped down to the bare essentials. And the characters on The Walking Dead are always willing to do whatever it takes to be there for each other and to help each other survive.
Allegiances can shift quickly, and enemies can become friends when everyone needs to work together to survive in the brutal apocalypse world. But one thing that never changes is that crisis situations will bring out the best in people. Even people who have a track record of selfishness or bad intentions can come through in a pinch and become heroes. Maybe not everyone can be redeemed, but most people can. If they want to be.
Ordinary people can and do become heroes when faced with extraordinary circumstance and these 30 most heroic moments from seasons 1-9 of The Walking Dead prove that there is nothing stronger than the bond between people who are facing life and death situations every single day
30. Dwight Saves Tara And Daryl
Season 8, “Dead Or Alive Or”
Dwight started out being a pretty hated character because first he stole Daryl’s bike and crossbow and took off with Sherry and, later on, he killed Denise, and then kidnapped Daryl, Glenn, and Michonne. But it could be argued that he more than paid for his crimes when he got an iron to the face from Negan for his attempted escape with Sherry. And he had to watch Sherry marry Negan.
In the end, Dwight proved to be one of the best assets they had for beating Negan and The Saviors. He gave them valuable intelligence and, when the war was coming to a head, he saved Tara and Daryl when they were in the swamps and some Saviors came by.
Even though Tara wanted to kill him, Dwight talked to The Saviors as if he was still a loyal Savior and led them away so that Daryl and Tara could get away safely. Tara was too hard on Dwight considering that when she entered the story she was attacking the prison with The Governor. Glenn saved her and she was able to join Rick’s group but she was not willing to give Dwight the same benefit of the doubt that she was given.
Dwight had a lot to make up for but he took a big step toward squaring that debt when he bravely risked his life to give Daryl and Tara the chance to get away. Dwight wasn’t a bad guy he was just caught in some tough circumstances. Hopefully he was able to find Sherry and restart his life after Daryl let him go.
