15. Eugene Sabotaged The Bullets

Season 8, “Wrath”

Eugene isn’t a character know for his bravery. In fact he’s pretty well-known for his cowardice. He lied to Abe and Rosita to get them to protect him by saying he had a cure and needed to get to Washington. And he’s lied and shifted his allegiances all along in order to survive. When Rosita forced him to make her a bullet he did because he will always do what someone stronger than he is tells him to do. And when Negan took him from Alexandria and offered him a position with some authority and power, as well as a comfortable and totally safe apartment, pickles, and other comforts he jumped at the chance to become part of Negan’s team.

When Daryl and Rosita attempted to rescue him from the outpost, where he was making bullets that would be used to slaughter the people of Alexandria, he refused to go with them. He even vomited on Rosita to make them leave without him. Eugene appeared to be a traitor.

But in the end, when it really counted, Eugene came through like a hero and really saved the day. If he hadn’t sabotaged the bullets that The Saviors were using against the forces of Alexandria, The Kingdom and Hilltop the end of All Our War might have turned out very differently. Even though Eugene was hated by fans pretty much since he joined The Saviors, in the end he was the one who saved hundreds of survivors by sabotaging the bullets that were in the guns being used by Negan’s fighters.
