11. Shiva Dies For Her King

Season 8, “Some Guy”

Losing Shiva was devastating, but she made the heroic choice to die fighting walkers to give King Ezekiel and Carol time to get away. Shiva had been saved by Ezekiel early in the apocalypse and the two had a strong bond. How strong Ezekiel probably didn’t even know until the fierce Shiva launched herself at a herd of walkers that was very close to killing Ezekiel. Shiva fought them off as long as she could and ultimately was killed by them. But she killed as many as she could as she was dying.

The Walking Dead doesn’t have a great track record when it comes to animals surviving the apocalypse. And it was improbably from the start that a large tiger would be able to survive the fall of society. Animal deaths are always difficult to watch, but to see Shiva go down fighting to save the human that had saved her so long ago was devastating.

Humans aren’t the only ones that can make heroic choices or have heroic moments. Shiva’s heroic moment saved King Ezekiel and probably saved The Kingdom, because without King Ezekiel The Kingdom would have fallen apart and probably would have become another outpost for Negan and The Saviors.

Shiva was a brave defender of the king and The Kingdom, who made the ultimate sacrifice. She really was a friend to all the communities because she also saved Carl when Negan and The Saviors attacked Alexandria and The Kingdom came to the rescue. Shiva deserves to be remembered for the brave defender that she was who gave her life so that The Kingdom could continue.  R.I.P. Shiva – you will never be forgotten.
