1.       Rick Saves His Family And Friends

Season 9, “What Comes After”

Rick’s heroic moments could have filled an entire list just by themselves. Everything Rick did was to save someone else or protect the people he loved. He endured endless pain and suffering to try and keep the people he loved alive. He made a lot of mistakes. But he never gave up trying to make the world better and trying to save people.

He did manage to have a few years of happiness with his soul mate, Michonne, before he made the biggest sacrifice that he could make but in the end Rick Grimes had to be true to his nature and give everything he had to save his loved ones.

Critically injured and fading fast, Rick rallied and managed to make one shot into the crate of dynamite that blew up the bridge and left the massive stream of walkers falling into the swift moving river below. Blowing up the bridge saved the communities and saved the people he loved, but it swept him away too. It looked like Rick gave his life to save his friends, which is exactly the kind of ending that fans would have expected of Rick Grimes. But at the last-minute Rick was saved by Jadis and the helicopter community.

So while thankfully Rick is still alive, Michonne and the others don’t know that. They think that Rick died for them which is why Rick’s last stand is the most heroic moment in The Walking Dead seasons 1-9. Hopefully someday Michonne will get to know that Rick is still alive and Rick will get to see his son.
