26. Maggie Brings Hilltop To Fight Negan

Season 7, “The First Day Of The Rest Of Your Life”

Maggie was the first one that was ready to battle Negan after he slaughtered Abe and Glenn. Before Glenn was even buried she wanted to fight. But when Negan’s attack on Alexandria was imminent and Gregory was nowhere to be found Maggie, who had become the unofficial leader at The Hilltop, had to decide whether or not to bring Jesus and the other Hilltop fighters to Alexandria to help them battle Negan and The Saviors.

Maggie had to weigh the consequences of getting The Hilltop involved in a fight that wasn’t theirs in order to protect Rick and the others and give Alexandria a chance at survival. And it turned out that without Maggie and Hilltop’s forces Rick and the others would probably not have been able to fight off The Savior. The Kingdom forces came to help, but when The Heapsters double crossed Rick and the others and used the weapons that Rick had given them against Alexandria it wasn’t looking good for Rick and the others.

If Maggie had decided not to enter the fight and kept her fighters at The Hilltop, Alexandria would have fallen and everything that Glenn had worked for would have been lost. From the very beginning Glenn risked everything over and over to save people, especially Rick and the other survivors from Atlanta, the farm, and the other survivors they picked up along the way.

So Maggie did what Glenn would have done and brought The Hilltop’s forces to Alexandria to join in the battle and they changed the course of that battle and sent Negan and The Saviors running for The Sanctuary.
