While zombies and the king of Atlantis don’t seem to have much in common, there’s actually a big link between The Walking Dead and Aquaman.

Fans of The Walking Dead love getting out and supporting members of the TWD Family and there’s a really good reason to come together to support Aquaman when it opens on December 21, especially if you enjoyed the season 9 mid-season finale.

Writer David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick was the writer behind the exceptionally spooky mid-season finale of The Walking Dead. It was in “Evolution” that we saw the Whisperers in action while also saying goodbye to Jesus. Though saying goodbye to a beloved character is never easy, the episode was so well done that it won rave reviews from fans.

As it happens, Johnson-McGoldrick is one of the writers on Aquaman. He and Will Beale are the team who wrote the script for the James Wan film. So far the movie has become the highest earning DC movie in China and it was certified fresh by review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes.

Aquaman follows Arthur Curry, the half-human half-Atlantean future king of Atlantis. Curry is played to perfection by Jason Momoa. It’s a story of discovery and family as Aquaman reconciles his past with his sense of duty to the people of Atlantis. Critics agree that the latest DC movie is a nonstop thrill ride, and it will be entertaining even for fans not as familiar with the Aquaman character.

The prolific Johnson-McGoldrick has written 10 episodes of The Walking Dead including the season 9 mid-season finale. He also wrote season 9’s “The Bridge” as well as “Chupacabra” and “Swear.” He wrote the screenplay for horror classics like Orphan, Red Riding Hood and The Conjuring 2, and he is currently working on The Conjuring 3 as well as reboots of Invasion of the Body Snatchers and A Nightmare on Elm Street, in addition to other projects.
