Don’t expect Aaron to go looking for love in the second half of The Walking Dead season 9 considering how things have been working out for the character.

To say that the zombie apocalypse hasn’t been kind to Aaron is a bit of an understatement. Since he found Rick’s group while scouting for new people in Alexandria, tons of bad things have been happening to the character.

He lost his boyfriend Eric, nearly died near Oceanside, had his arm amputated, lost his closest friend Jesus, and much more over that time, but Aaron continues to press forward by tasking himself with different projects.

Most notably, Aaron has taken on looking after baby Gracie. Recently, Comicbook.com shared some comments about future relationships from Ross Marquand, the actor who plays Aaron, when he attended Walker Stalker Con New Jersey:

"“He’s already got baby Gracie, he’s got to take care of her,” Marquand said. “I feel like that’s where he’s putting all his unrequited love.”"

For now, that’s probably the best option considering how so many other things have been falling apart for the character. However, there are still plenty of options for activities that don’t include looking for love.

"“I feel like at this stage in the show and in the apocalypse, I don’t know if finding love is a really critical thing at this point. I feel like we’re all like, ‘You know what? It’s not working out for the lovers, maybe we just get through each day and eat our food and plant crops and maybe we make that our focus,’” Marquand said at Walker Stalker Con New Jersey."

Many fans were rooting for Aaron and Jesus to become a couple, as they are in the popular comic book source material. AMC teased that it might be happening with their secret meetings in the woods, only to have Jesus die in the midseason finale of season 9.

Of course, that doesn’t mean that Aaron will never find love on the show. However, that shouldn’t be a priority for the character either. Considering the heartbreak and pain in his past, focusing on those he cares about and improving the community should keep him busy enough to make him feel accomplished through season 9 of The Walking Dead and beyond.
