2. Paul “Jesus” Rovia

The most recent of the deaths on this list, the loss of Jesus is still one of the most devastating and surprising in the entire history of the franchise. While other characters got a big buildup to their deaths, Rovia’s fate struck out of nowhere.
Introduced in season 6 episode 10, Jesus became one of the best-known survivors from The Hilltop after his altercation with Rick and Daryl while trying to assume control of a truck full of sorghum and other supplies.
After that, they were able to become friends and join together. He would often go on missions and supply runs with those in Rick’s group, getting extra chummy with Maggie and the survivors who stayed at The Hilltop.
It was the final moments of Jesus which are still burned into the memory of viewers. While fighting a group of walkers, one of the undead ducked an attack and stabbed him through his back. This fight was the big reveal of The Whisperers and left a lasting impression heading into the midseason break.
