  • Date of airing: Feb. 25, 2018

Let’s be honest, there was no more emotional farewell during season 9 of The Walking Dead than that of Carl Grimes. One of the original characters from the show’s first season, it was exceptionally hard to say goodbye to him after everything the character has been through to this point.

Watching Carl grow up in the zombie apocalypse as the show went on was a great adventure, but it was the young Grimes boy who took several opportunities to remind people about humanity, mercy, and working together.

That doesn’t mean that Carl didn’t kick butt. He confronted The Saviors by himself twice, protected his father when he couldn’t fight on his own, and took a great interest in being part of a community where people bond together.

In the end, it was a bite from a walker that finished Carl off. It happened while he was eliminating the undead in the woods while trying to prove to his father than new people can bring some great things to a community while enjoying his family of Rick, Michonne, and Judith and looking out for their future.
