It was shocking to find out Oceanside was eliminating members of The Saviors on The Walking Dead, but even more surprising is that they got away with it.

During season 9 of The Walking Dead, a lot of focus was placed on rules and punishments. Gregory was hung for attempting to kill Maggie, Negan was kept locked up for his role in attacking and killings, and people from The Sanctuary were told to return there when not being able to trust people they worked with.

One of the more interesting stories in the first eight episodes involved the survivors from Oceanside exacting revenge on the people from The Sanctuary who killed their men and older boys to leave them devastated. However, Cyndie and the others didn’t forget or forgive what happened to them and killed numerous members of The Saviors while working side-by-side.

Oceanside did get caught while executing these individuals, with Maggie and Daryl stumbling across them in the woods and Daryl telling Rick about what happened as well. And if word spread about their killings, they would be punished like Negan, Gregory, and others, right?

Well, not exactly. According to Johnny O’Dell in the weekly TWD mailbag when replying to an exceptionally handsome individual’s Tweet, the women of Oceanside won’t face any repercussions for their actions against people at The Sanctuary.

"“Actually, the Oceanside gals won’t be punished for killing the Saviors at all. They’re still very much allies of Alexandria, Kingdom, and Hilltop (even though the bond connecting the communities has soured). Maggie and Daryl barely flinched at Arat’s execution, so no justice will need to be served (remember how Carol dealt with the Saviors when SHE last encountered them?)”"

Carol’s dealing with The Saviors is quite different from what Oceanside did. Her actions happened after the six-year time jump when the relationship between the communities broke down, which offers a lot of explanations as to why she wouldn’t be punished for killing Jed and the others. And with only her knowing what happened and Henry having an idea of what was going on, the story would never be told.

When it comes to Oceanside’s killings, my guess is that Maggie and Daryl kept their mouths shut after catching the women in the act. While Daryl did tell Rick what happened, Rick isn’t around to tell Michonne and others. Odds are they won’t be punished because nobody who would push for punishment ever found out what happened.

In addition, a lot of blame was being placed on Jadis/Ann for the disappearances of The Saviors. With her leaving in the helicopter with Rick Grimes, a possible scapegoat for the killings and disappointments left.

Had a word of the abductions and murders spread, it is likely people from The Sanctuary as well as those who witnessed the hanging of Gregory would be pushing for justice to come to those who murdered The Saviors in cold blood.

dark. Next. Ten things to look for in TWD season 9

Following the big time jump in The Walking Dead season 9, it seems like a lot of those rules Michonne and Maggie were trying to put into place went out the window. That’s a good thing for the women of Oceanside, who risked facing some massive punishments to get revenge for their killed loved ones.
