The Walking Dead 2019: 5 New Year resolutions for Carol

Carol will be thrust into the fight against the Whisperers when The Walking Dead returns. Here are 5 New Year resolutions to help her win.

Carol has been through a lot since we met her back in season 1 of The Walking Dead, and now in season 9 she has settled down with King Ezekiel to become his Queen and together they have a son in Henry. But with the threat of the Whisperers on the horizon, the Queen will be thrust into battle, and that’s where she’s at her best. Here are 5 New Year resolutions that will help Carol win this fight.

Be The Queen…

While Carol sees the title of queen as something she must own as part of her marriage to Ezekiel, the title itself is something that conveys her role in the Kingdom community. Like any head of state, people look to their leaders for support in times of crisis and Carol is known for being cool under pressure when it comes to times of crisis.

Embracing her title and leading her people when the time comes to fight the Whisperers is what she needs to do, but just because she is a queen doesn’t mean she’s not a fighter.

…And Be The Warrior

Carol is fierce. She will stop at nothing to protect the people around her, and now that she has a husband and son she has even more to fight for than ever before.

As the more experienced fighter, Carol must lead by example. The Whisperers will cause widespread panic among the communities. They are elusive and can show up at any time, and they can “control” entire herds of walkers. Defeating them will be a fight, and Carol is the best person to lead the troops.

Be The Voice Of Reason

Ezekiel isn’t one to jump head first into a fight the way Carol is. Carol must see that the threat of the Whisperers requires immediate action and she must convince him that swift action is needed. He might not want to fight, but there might not be a choice in the matter and waiting too long would be a fool’s mistake.

Carol might need to be the one to mediate between the Hilltop and Alexandria given Michonne’s tense relationship with Hilltop. Carol needs to be the voice of reason so that everyone can work together.

Be Fearless

Carol has been in some pretty tough situations, but she’s a survivor and she has risen to every challenge thrown in her path. The threats coming at them in the second half of season 9 will be like nothing she has faced before, and Carol must summon that same determination we’ve seen so many times before.

Never Look Back

Carol showed us that she is still a badass when she killed the remaining Saviors who threatened Henry. With one dropped match she proved that she still doesn’t give a care (ahem) about what she does and who she might upset in doing it so long as she’s doing what she thinks is right. She does what must be done.

Dealing with the Whisperers will require that same kind of resolve. Carol will do whatever it takes to ensure that the people she loves are safe, and that’s what makes her the Queen in every sense of the word. She must act as decisively as she has in the past without worrying about what other people will think because that will only hold her back.
