After The Walking Dead time jump Eugene went from hitting on Father Gabe’s girl to locking himself away to hide from sentient walkers. Eugene’s future is murky at this point, especially after being injured. We have three New year resolutions to help keep Eugene alive and kicking in 9B.
She’s Just Not That Into You
Eugene has a crush on Rosita, and it’s that crush that got him into trouble in the first place. Rosita wanted to place Gabriel’s radio signal boosters and Eugene offered to go with her. Along the way he hinted that she should be with him, but then all hell broke loose.
The takeaway from the ordeal is that Rosita seems to be pretty locked into her relationship with Gabriel, and she’s not into Eugene the way he’s into her. Until that changes, he’d do well to stop doing favors for people because he keeps getting hurt.
Do What You Do Best
Eugene is at his best when he’s keeping track of things, or building things, or fixing things. This is his strength, and he should keep doing it. Eugene has seen firsthand how the Whisperers have been able to control herds despite the usual distractions that have been able to divert them in the past.
This is exactly the kind of problem that Eugene can solve. He’s good at coming up with ideas, and if he can put aside the terror of what happened, maybe he can find a way to re-redirect the herds when the Whisperers come again.
Keep On Keeping On
Eugene is someone who manages to get out of tricky situations when the odds seem to be against him. Whatever he has been doing all these years is working, so keep at it.
