The Walking Dead fans celebrate national Spaghetti Day and Scott Wilson
By Sonya Iryna
Hershel and spaghetti are forever linked for The Walking Dead fans. Today is national Spaghetti Day and it’s the perfect day to remember Scott Wilson.
The Walking Dead fans need to get their spaghetti ready! It’s national Spaghetti Day and even though it’s not Wednesday it’s a good day to make some spaghetti and remember acting legend Scott Wilson who passed away just before season 9 of The Walking Dead began last fall.
Hershel gave us many meme worthy lines but none have take off quite the way that “Spaghetti Tuesdays every Wednesday” have taken off. Scott uttered this line back in season 4, in his tour de force performance as Hershel in “Internment”. In the scene Hershel is tending to Sasha, who has come down with the flu that swept through the prison. He’s trying to make conversation and keep her spirits up.
“Internment” showed the immense talent that Scott Wilson had as Hershel tried to manage the pandemic crisis in the prison with his usual matter of fact attitude. His calm demeanor and reminders to Lizzie and the others that “we all have jobs to do” gave way at the end of the episode when Hershel, struggling with the weight of everything that had happened including Glenn’s near death and Hershel’s fight with a walker to get the intubator to save Glenn, sat in a cell with his Bible and cried. And when Hershel cries, we all cry. If you don’t remember here’s a clip of Hershel fighting the walker to get the intubator so that he and Maggie could save Glenn:
Make Spaghetti For Hershel
Earlier this year after Scott Wilson passed away The Walking Dead fans showed their love and respect for Scott and Hershel by making spaghetti on Wednesday. And today fans should honor him again with some heaping plates of spaghetti to celebrate Scott and to celebrate national Spaghetti Day.
If you make a plate of spaghetti today for Scott and for Hershel post your photos on social media and tag us @SonyaIryna and @UndeadWalkingFS! We’ll be having spaghetti for Hershel today and remembering the brilliance, warmth, humanity, and talent of Scott Wilson.
