Will Carol have a G.I. Jane moment in The Walking Dead 9B?

Carol’s hair has been a sensitive subject for fans of The Walking Dead, but her divisive hair could lead to an epic moment in the second half of season 9.

Carol hair, don’t care? Or do you? Carol’s hair in The Walking Dead season 9 has been a sore subject for fans. Her long locks are reminiscent of Maid Marian, which is perfect for her role as the co-leader of the Kingdom. But could something happen to her in 9B to lead her to cut that hair in a G.I. Jane moment? Some fans think so!

Remember that moment when Demi Moore shaved her head in G.I. Jane? It was a pivotal moment for the character as she worked to become a Navy Seal despite all of the obstacles in her way.

Carol doesn’t have to worry about fitting in the way Moore’s character did, but when people cross her they learn the hard way that you don’t mess with her and get away with it. But if bad things go down, will she cut her hair as a sign of being the badass that she is?

It’s quite possible. And it would be an epic moment.

(And for those who don’t care for the long hair, a much-needed change)

From a symbolic standpoint, Carol’s hair would seem to represent the six years of relative peace that have passed. The tension between Alexandria and the Kingdom seems to be from Alexandria denying help in the form of food or supplies to the Kingdom, based on Carol and Michonne’s interaction in the mid-season finale.

We know bad things are coming in the second half of season 9. People are going to die. People Carol cares about will die. (To be clear I’m not saying anyone specifically. The communities are still close despite the friction, so anyone who dies will be missed. And honestly I’m not so sure the show is going to follow comics canon, so for those who read the comics I don’t think [redacted] is going to die…or [redacted] either. Or maybe even [redacted]…you get the picture…) When Carol is pushed to the brink she goes into Beast Mode and she’s an unstoppable force, so cutting her hair could be symbolic of that shift, from peacetime Carol to hell-to-pay Carol.

Carol’s hair might be the first to go when things go bad in 9B, and it would be a very symbolic moment to see the hair gone as Carol goes off to fight the Whisperers and anyone else who messes with her friends and family.
