When it comes to the most important demographic in television ratings, The Walking Dead once again continued to command a viewing audience.

It is a fact that live views of The Walking Dead have been decreasing over the last few seasons on AMC but that doesn’t mean the popular zombie survival drama is reaching its own end of days any time soon.

In fact, the series once again was one of the most popular shows on television, dominating the18 to 49-year-old age demographic as the third most-watched scripted show on television after only the canceled program Roseanne and NBC’s tearjerking This Is Us according to Uproxx and IndieWire.

Sunday Night Football led the way in that age grouping in 2018, earning a rating of 6.2 compared to 5.3 for AMC’s zombie survival drama series. However, for a scripted drama, the success of the show now halfway through season 9 is quite impressive.

Even the companion series Fear The Walking Dead fared quite well, netting a 1.8 in that age group. That number seems small compared to the top shows, but it puts the AMC drama on par with popular programs like Black-ish, Dancing With The Stars, and The Simpsons. Meaning the show is a success with plenty of room to build as the current plot progresses.

More astounding is how AMC is available in ways that can’t be measured by these ratings metrics. Sources like Sling, YouTube TV, PlayStation Vue, and FuboTV, as well as AMC Premiere, prove that people are as hungry as ever to devour the zombie dramas. In addition, there is always the pirate audience who streams or downloads torrents of the program illegally who watch the show with no impact on these statistics.

With success like this, AMC should continue to be able to showcase The Walking Dead and Fear The Walking Dead for many years to come. As long as there is an audience and the show is profitable, expect more of the undead drama to be featured for fans around the world.
