Get ready for some big news: Media outlets have received screeners for the first two episodes of The Walking Dead 9B and the review embargo lifts Thursday.
The Walking Dead mid-season premiere is weeks away and screeners of the first two episodes of the second half of season 9 have been sent to media outlets. The embargo for early reviews lifts on Thursday, January 24 at 12:01am, so if you’re hoping to steer clear of any and all information about 9B prior to the show’s February 10 return, this is your warning.
Media have been instructed by AMC to avoid spoilers in reviews, so you won’t have to worry about the episodes being spoiled by reading reviews. You should be able to get a sense of what the episodes are like, and when you read reviews from reviewers you follow closely it’s usually possible to glean whether or not that reviewer is excited about the upcoming season.
On the other hand, now that the episodes are out in the world there’s always the possibility that spoilers will start popping up on social media. The problem with spoilers is that they’re usually taken out of context. Without the full picture, some spoilers are very misleading. In most cases you have to actively seek out spoilers, but some people post them without thinking about the people who don’t want to read them.
From a personal standpoint, I’ve had fellow members of the TWD Family ask me what it’s like being able to see the episodes early. I love it. Patience isn’t one of my strong suits, so anything that cuts the wait time is great in my book.
However, as much as I enjoy seeing the episodes early, even on a weekly basis, it’s also a monumental responsibility. Keeping all of those secrets is tough. Not being able to talk about them is tougher. The challenge is real, but it’s an honor and privilege to see the episodes early and provide fans with my reaction.
