The Walking Dead blazes a bold new trail in the second half of season 9, declaring in no uncertain terms that the show has a very bright future.

The Walking Dead is back for the second half of season 9 and it’s an overwhelmingly satisfying return that offers up plenty of answers and some intriguing new questions. All hail Angela Kang because this is The Walking Dead that fans deserve. If the first two episodes of 9B are any indication, the second half of season 9 is going to blow our minds and leave us ready for everything the new expanded universe has to offer.

Not so spoilery spoiler alert: I really enjoyed 909 and 910. A lot. I was more than pleasantly surprised with these episodes and as mid-season premieres go, 909 delivered.

The best way to describe 909’s “Adaptation” and 910’s “Omega” is satisfying. Far too often television shows return after a bold mid-season finale and offer up a lackluster premiere that doesn’t live up to the hype. Between these two episodes fans will see that this season is no joke, and the hype about the Whisperers is more than deserved.

That said, “Adaptation” and “Omega” are very different from each other. They have completely different tones but they’re exactly what are needed at this point in the season.
