Expect the Unexpected

As many of you know, I’ve never read the comics so my perspective on the show is based entirely upon the show. That said, there has been a lot of speculation on social media about plot points based on what happened in the comics.

I can’t say for sure, but here’s my gut feeling about 9B: Expect the unexpected.

More from Undead Walking

We’ve already seen deviations from the comics well before 9A arrived. That will likely continue in 9B. A great deal of 9A was like hitting the refresh button, rebooting the series and giving it room to grow beyond the comics. This had to happen, especially given the non-comic book canon departure of Rick Grimes. 909 and 910 are built out of those deviations and those deviations continue moving forward.

When it comes to comic canon, some of the events in 9B might be the same, but the people involved in those events might be different. Angela Kang already confirmed that some things, like Negan’s escape, will be different. The arrival of the Whisperers and the Fair are all things that will happen, but expect a twist. The people that are “supposed” to die based on canon might not be the ones who actually die. If nothing else, remember that all bets are off and no one is safe these days.

The second half of The Walking Dead season 9 promises to be a return to the gripping, must-watch show that so many fans fell in love with in early seasons and saw again in season 9. Based on 909 and 910, the hype is real and there’s every reason to be excited for the show’s return.

The mid-season premiere of The Walking Dead season 9 is February 10 at 9pm on AMC.
