The Walking Dead new trailer gives a new look at Lydia and reveals Alpha
By Sonya Iryna
There’s a new haunting trailer for The Walking Dead 9B showing a longer look at Lydia and a terrifying Alpha.
As The Walking Dead season 9B looms more information about the long-awaited arrival of Alpha, Beta, and the Whisperers is coming out. EW released an exclusive new trailer showing a longer look at Lydia, Alpha’s daughter, and has a haunting look at Alpha herself.
Seeing the Whisperers in the teasers that have been released so far is one thing, seeing Alpha and the others actually moving and interacting with The Walking Dead world is deeply unsettling. It’s easy to imagine what the survivors must be feeling trying to figure out what this group is and what they want. We have the advantage of knowing where the Whisperers fit in the context of the universe but to the characters in the story the arrival of the Whisperers probably triggers the kind of deep down fear and uncertainty they felt when the apocalypse began and everyone was trying to figure out what walkers were and how to defend themselves against them.
The 30-second clip shows Lydia being unmasked. She is blindfolded and Michonne leads her on horseback and then she is shown in a cell at Hilltop talking to Daryl. She gives Daryl a creepy warning about her mom, Alpha. When Lydia mentions her mom in a warning tone Daryl asks where she is and Lydia tells him, “Be glad you don’t know.”
Alpha herself is seen raising a gun at someone in her grotesque walker skin mask. The clip also shows the different communities reacting to this new threat and it looks like Tara is in charge at Hilltop. Carol, of course, just wants to eliminate the threat but the others appear a little spooked and uncertain about how to deal with the Whisperers.

Will The Whisperers Live Up To The Hype?
There has been a lot of hype surrounding the Whisperers arrival in season 9B of The Walking Dead, particularly the arrival of Lydia, Alpha, and Beta because those characters played such a huge role in the comic. Some people have been skeptical that the arrival of these long-awaited characters would live up to the hype preceding them but based on this trailer it looks like the hype that has been put out doesn’t begin to capture how electrifying and terrifying this story arc will be.
The Walking Dead is about to plunge fans into a whole new and really creepy new era for the show and it’s going to be a very intense season 9B judging by this new look at what’s coming when The Walking Dead returns on February 10.
