The Walking Dead Survival Rule Of The Week: The things we don’t think of

2) Learn how to fix your car.
Now, am I suggesting that you learn to fix every single thing in your car? …No, though, if you choose to do so, that won’t hurt.
What I am suggesting is that you at least be able to fix some things that can go wrong with your car. As I mentioned in the previous entry, your car will be your primary means of escaping the undead in the zombie apocalypse, and, as such, you want to ensure that you can rely on it for as long as you possibly can…the last thing you need is to have your car breakdown when you’re trying to drive away from a massive herd of zombies.
“But, what things?” you might ask, well, being able to replace tires, brakes, belts, and hoses are a good place to start. There are, obviously, more complicated things that can break down, like shocks, transmissions, or crucial engine parts. If you want to learn how to deal with these, then, by all means, learn, but, the important thing is that you have some idea how and the ability to fix your car should the need arise, because, the car you’re using may be the only conveyance you have for a long time, and you need it to last.
If you can’t find time to learn how to repair your car, you should, at least, learn how to properly maintain it. If you know how and when to replace fluids, filters, and other important but relatively short-lived components, you can take great strides in ensuring the longevity of your vehicle.
An ounce of prevention beats a pound of cure any day.
