7) ANYTHING can be a weapon.

I spent much of the last couple of weeks talking about the value of a good weapon, be that a gun, a hatchet, a knife, whatever, and I would imagine, you already know how important they are. Something you may not think too much about is how nearly anything can be made into a weapon in a zombie apocalypse.

I’m not even joking, when thinking about things that can put down a zombie, there are so many ordinary things that you can use to do the job, most probably never occur to you. Things like rocks, sharpened sticks, hunks of scrap metal, tools, sturdy pieces of glass, scissors, anything that can puncture or smash a zombie’s skull, you should consider it.

I feel like a lot of people get locked into this idea that they have to use things we think of as “weapons” and, while they’re certainly better suited for the job, thinking that way is limiting, as there are so many other options at your disposal. Furthermore, if you find yourself in a pinch, you can’t waste time trying to get a “weapon” if you don’t have one; You need to be able to put down the cannibalistic rotting corpse trying to eat you as quickly as possible, with the nearest thing that will do the job, whether that’s a hammer or just a plain old rock. If it can kill zombies, you can use it.

We think of so much when we watch our favorite show about zombies, and, yet, there’s still so many things we completely overlook that, if we do, can get us killed. Don’t do it. Don’t overlook the little things, they’re the things that might just separate us from the casualties. So much tragedy can be avoided if we just stop and think about things for a minute…that’s what I hope you do.

This is why you follow…The Rules.
