The Walking Dead gave fans another new teaser today that features Alpha introducing herself to the survivors.

Fans are getting very excited for the mid-season premiere of The Walking Dead and the teasers that The Walking Dead are releasing are getting everyone amped up to meet Alpha, Beta, and Lydia. Today a new trailer dropped that shows a lot of conflict between the survivors and the creepy as heck Whisperers. The clip also has a voiceover from Alpha introducing herself and it looks like the reports of her ferocity were not exaggerated.

In the voiceover, Alpha confirms that the core of the fight between the Whisperers and the survivors will be territorial. Alpha says that they crossed into the Whisperer’s lands and killed her people, which mirrors the Whisperers arc in the comic where the fight between the groups started as a territorial disagreement. The Whisperers are territorial in the way that a pack of predatory animals would be so territory and the killing of their members would both be grounds for war to them.

Previous trailers have shown glimpses of Alpha but this is the first trailer where she is heard speaking. She isn’t shown from the front without her mask and it’s grim to watch her speaking from behind that gory mask but also very exciting. The second half of season 9 is definitely not going to be like anything that the show has done before.

Samantha Morton

Samantha Morton, who plays Alpha, is a highly accomplished actress who brings immense talent and commitment to the role. Her cast members have called her depiction of Alpha “terrifying” and Nadia Hilker, who plays Magna, compared Alpha to Hannibal Lecter. If this trailer is any indication of how creepy Alpha is going to be that comparison will probably be accurate. Alpha seems to have the same chilling calm demeanor that hides a total lack of empathy and humanity.

Samantha Morton is known for taking on unique roles. She was nominated for an Oscar for her role in Woody Allen’s 1999 film Sweet and Lowdown. She won a second Golden Globe for her role in the TV miniseries Longford.  She also won a Golden Globe for that role. She played Deborah Curtis, the wife of Ian Curtis of Joy Division in the 2007 biopic Control. Some of her other credits including John Carter and Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them. Since 2017 she’s been starring in Hulu’s period drama Harlots.

Alpha may be the darkest character she’s ever played, but judging by just what has been released in these teaser trailers she’s going to make Alpha a legend among The Walking Dead villains. The Walking Dead returns on February 10th.
