Actor Mads Mikkelson called The Walking Dead “addictive” in a recent interview and we can totally relate.

The Walking Dead was recently named the most in-demand show in the show in the world which is no surprise to the millions of fans who have been following it since season one. The Walking Dead has a new fan though – actor Mads Mikkelson, who recently binge watched the show with his son for the first time.

Mikkelson, who starred in the TV show Hannibal and also has been in several blockbuster films like Casino Royale, is promoting two new projects and in a recent interview with Polygon  he was asked about becoming a fan of the show.

"The interviewer asked him about the show saying, “You mentioned in another interview that you’d just finished watching The Walking Dead. Is there anything else in terms of movies and TV that you tend to seek out or that you’ve enjoyed recently?”"

And Mikkelson replied:

"“I don’t watch a lot. It does happen if I’m in a specific situation, and The Walking Dead thing was this thing I had with my son that we just binge-watched together, and it was addictive, because it’s like, “Yeah, we know it’s a zombie,” we know it’s gonna come, but we just want to see it because it’s cool, right? And I think they were smart. I mean, I haven’t seen the latest season. They’re circling around the start of a society, how do you make a society, and these are the eternal problems they’re dealing with, which is always interesting to watch, and they’re great actors, and if that gets a little boring? There’s a zombie. [laughs] It’s such a cool combination.”"

The Walking Dead fans everywhere can definitely relate to those sentiments. For the first few seasons the survivors were so busy just trying to stay alive that building a society seemed like a far-off dream. But now, ten or so years into the apocalypse, they finally have the stability they need to think about what comes next and what type of society to build. If they can survive the Whisperers, that is.

What About The Walking Dead Made You A Fan?

Reading Mads Mikkelson’s first impressions of the show got me wondering what it was that drew other fans to the show. One of the most fascinating things about The Walking Dead is how deeply it has resonated with so many different kinds of people. People who have nothing else in common can come together and be emotionally invested in the survival of these characters. As Rick has said, “We survive together.” And everyone has their own unique story of what brought them to the show and what the show means to them.
