Jon Bernthal is known for playing Shane on The Walking Dead but those who watch Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt on Netflix saw a different side of the actor in season 4.

There are several great places to see Jon Bernthal on Netflix. Fans can check him out in great projects like The Walking Dead, The Punisher, and Wind River but a trip into comedy on the streaming network is always a welcome departure.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt released the second half of season 4 recently and one pleasant surprise among the episodes is the inclusion of Bernthal in a role that is both familiar and unique to his fans for a couple installments of the show.

Without giving too much away about his role on the show, Bernthal plays a character named Ilan who takes a strong interest in the fun and flamboyant Titus Andromedon. From their first meeting at a car wash to their hilarious and interesting farewell, it’s hard not to enjoy seeing the former The Walking Dead star on Netflix.

For fans who aren’t familiar with Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, the story follows a woman who was abducted and held in a bunker for 15 years only to be rescued and move to New York City to start a new life where nobody knows her.

Schmidt is played by The Office actress Ellie Kemper. Meanwhile, 30 Rock cast members Tituss Burgess (Kimmy’s roommate) and Jane Krakowski (Kimmy’s friend/employer), as well as The Princess Bride‘s Carol Kane round out the excellent and hilarious cast of the show created by Robert Carlock and Tina Fey.
