The good stuff from TWD 909
Getting right back into it.The Walking Dead used to have a tendency to leave important scenes for later in an episode or even leave fans hanging until next week. Jumping right back into the graveyard with the Whisperers was a refreshing way to keep the story going and make it feel like a direct continuation from the midseason finale.
Introducing a new character or two. Lydia is one of my personal favorites from the comic books and seeing the television version of the character make her debut means some powerful and compelling storylines could be on the way during the Whisperers storyline. Oh yeah, Alpha appeared too!
A farewell for Jesus. His death was shocking, to say the least, but giving a minute of the show to reveal the impact his death had on the Hilltop residents was a nice way to say farewell to one of the most beloved individuals in the series.
People looking up to Tara. With Jesus gone, there needs to be a new leader in the community. They have had to move on from Gregory to Maggie to Jesus and now to Tara. This seems like a job that isn’t good for your health or tenure on the show, but it’s nice to see her getting some love from the people of the Hilltop.
Trying something new. Daryl and Michonne weren’t getting anywhere with Lydia but when they finally left her in a cell. While I didn’t like Daryl putting his hand around her throat and a knife in her face, it was enough to get Henry riled up and possibly grow a small bond there.
