The Walking Dead, Adaptation: Things To Note
By Liam O'Leary
1) During Daryl and Michonne’s escape from the graveyard, you can notice that the first “walker” Daryl kills is, in fact, a Whisperer, and the first two walkers Michonne kills audibly groan in pain as they die, indicating they too were Whisperers.
2) Among the items Negan takes for his escape is a shovel. While one might initially assume he chose that strictly as a weapon, it is likely he chose it so that he could have the means to dig up Lucille from the hill he and Rick fought on back in the season eight finale, “Wrath”.
3) As Michonne vouches for Magna and Yumiko to Daryl, you can see a small skull tattoo on the back of Daryl’s hand. When did he get that?
4) Sticking with Daryl and Michonne, as they’re making their way back to Hilltop, Daryl apologizes to Michonne for not finding Rick’s body, to which Michonne thanks him for trying and “For after“. What does she mean by that?
5) Daryl’s “test” Whisperer, along with the one Michonne kills as he tries to flee the covered bridge, make the fifth and sixth Whisperers killed in just two episodes.
6) Whilst fighting off one walker, Negan is attacked by a second: A burnt walker resting in the bed of a pickup. Umm…why was that walker there? Even if it was originally a live person before the truck was burned, that doesn’t explain what they might have been doing lying in a truck that somehow wound up on fire.
