1. That’s not how you treat a loved one

There are many different ways to express love. However, when it comes to dealing with a loved one, physical and emotional abuse are not acceptable, even when the world breaks down and is taken over by undead monsters who eat human flesh.

From the moment Lydia was introduced, it was apparent that her youth wasn’t a great time. Even the stories she believed upon her arrival at the Hilltop were fabrications created through manipulation by Alpha.

Watching Lydia realize that everything she was living and believed to be true was a lie was hard to watch. From her cell, she honestly believed that civilizations could not survive the zombie apocalypse, but got to see it with her own eyes and realized that might not be true.

An excellent acting job by Cassady McClincy was one of the highlights of the episode and the stories not only gave viewers a ton of sympathy for Lydia but also helped to paint Alpha as a monster.
