Black Panther and If Beale Street Could Talk came away with wins at the 91st Academy Awards, and Danai Gurira and Colman Domingo are celebrating.

The Walking Dead Family can add a few more accolades to the shelf as Black Panther and If Beale Street Could Talk came away with big wins at the 91st Academy Awards. The wins mean that The Walking Dead star Danai Gurira and Fear the Walking Dead star Colman Domingo, whose movies have already earned many accolades during awards season, came away with even more trophies for their respective films at the biggest award show of them all.

Danai Gurira and the cast of Black Panther made history as the movie won three Oscars: Best Original Music Score, Best Costume Design and Best Production Design. The film made history for Marvel Studios when it received a nomination for Best Picture at the Academy Awards, with a whopping six nominations under its belt. Though Black Panther didn’t win for Best Picture, no one is complaining about taking home three Oscars.

Colman Domingo’s If Beale Street Could Talk costar Regina King continued her award season dominance with an Oscar win for Best Supporting Actress. The film had been up for three awards and King’s win ensures that Beale Street doesn’t go home empty handed. The cast and crew is still celebrating their big night at the 2019 Spirit Awards on Saturday, just a day ahead of the Oscars, where If Beale Street Could Talk came away with Best Supporting Female (King, who also won a Golden Globe for the role), Best Director (Barry Jenkins) and the biggest honor of the night: Best Feature.

Both Gurira and Domingo have been making the rounds at the awards circuit for their movies, which have both earned well deserved praise for ranking among the best movies of 2018.

Gurira can currently be been in season 9 of The Walking Dead while Domingo is busy at work filming season 5 of Fear the Walking Dead, which comes out later this year.
