Overall impression

So far, season 9 of The Walking Dead has been amazing. That trend continued with episode 911 which finally gave viewers a look at the Kingdom while also resolving the issue at the gates of the Hilltop with Alpha and the Whisperers.

Of course, the Kingdom’s trip for a bulb and talks of the charter and the fair were nice. But the real meat of this episode came from the intensity of the Whisperers trying to make a deal with the Hilltop while attempting to keep Lydia from going back into the arms of Alpha.

Great performances from the cast helped to make this episode even better than the already excellent writing. Each moment Alpha and the Whisperers stood at the gates of the Hilltop felt intense and powerful, giving this new group so much power going forward and establishing them as a true threat.

Even though the portion about the projector bulb wasn’t as powerful as the portion involving the Whisperers, the two parts combined to give fans an episode that could be re-watched numerous times and builds plenty of storyline for the future.

EPISODE GRADE: 8.3/10
