Henry snuck out to go after Lydia and try to save her. Our panel weighs on in the potential consequences of Henry’s recklessness.

It seems like kids in The Walking Dead won’t ever stay behind the walls that the adults have built to try to keep them safe. Judith wanders all over the place on her own. The teens at Hilltop sneak out on the regular to get drunk and taunt walkers. Now Henry has used the Hilltop’s emergency out to go after Lydia and try to save her from Alpha.

Apparently, Henry missed the part where a woman abandoned her baby to be eaten by walkers just because Alpha shrugged at her. This woman is not someone to mess with. From the previews for The Walking Dead 912, it’s clear that Henry is going to get caught and that’s probably not going to end well.

Daryl went to save Henry and if possible rescue Lydia, but Daryl’s focus is sure to be on saving Henry because he promised Carol that he would look out for Henry. It is a little unbelievable that Carol would raise a child to be so careless in that world after what happened to Sophia, and what happened to Mika. But Henry is clearly an idealist like Ezekiel and he’s not going to let a little thing like the scariest person ever seen in The Walking Dead world stand between him and what he thinks is his duty. It’s obvious that this is going to go bad, but how bad? Our panel has some thoughts:

What’s The Worst That Could Happen?

Henry went out in search of saving Lydia. Do you think that Henry’s spontaneous & reckless actions will end well for him, or is he on a path to danger?

Sonya says:

"There’s no way this is going to end in anything other than tragedy. If Henry is lucky he will make it out of the Whisperer camp alive but that’s not guaranteed. I think that they will keep this storyline close to the comic and Daryl and Henry will get a lot of information about the Whisperers but it’s going to be hard, painful, and bloody lesson. I do think they will finally realize how much of a threat the Whisperers are after they meet Beta and see how the Whisperers live. But it’s also possible that Henry’s recklessness could end up making things worse for Lydia as well, if Alpha holds her responsible for Henry’s finding them."

Sara says:

"Henry’s heart is in the right place, but his head is not. I understand how deeply Henry wants to help Lydia, a victim of abuse, however he is not being smart about it. The Whisperers present the greatest danger that we have seen on the show and if Henry isn’t more careful around Lydia, it won’t end well for him at all."

Jeffrey says:

"Henry is putting himself and others in clear danger. I totally understand his motivations and believe his heart is pure. That being said, this isn’t a normal world our characters live in. His desire to save Lydia is endangering himself and the rest of the Hilltop. If he truly wants to help Lydia, and keep himself and his people safe, he will need to be more strategic. The actions he has taken thus far are completely reckless and paint him as being extremely naive. Hopefully, he is able to learn quickly otherwise he may have a death on his hands."
