She’s known for bringing Lydia to life on The Walking Dead, but Cassady McClincy is no stranger to television and movies.

Cassady McClincy made quite an impact on The Walking Dead as soon as Daryl Dixon removed the skin mask to reveal a frightened young girl. McClincy skillfully brings Lydia to life on the show, but she’s no stranger to big roles in television and in the movies.

Eighteen year old McClincy has been acting since 2010. She started out with bit parts on TV shows and movies, and guest appearances on shows like Constantine and Drop Dead Diva.

The next few years were big for McClincy. In 2017 she landed a recurring role on Daytime Divas. One year later she landed her first major feature film role as Jackie in Love, Simon. She also landed a recurring role in the hit Hulu series Castle Rock, playing the younger version of Molly Strand. Then, in 2019, McClincy made her debut as Lydia on The Walking Dead.

McClincy already had connections to The Walking Dead universe before being cast as Lydia. She appeared in an episode of Lore, the Amazon Prime series from The Walking Dead executive producer Gale Anne Hurd. McClincy’s younger sister Callie stars in Outcast, a show based on the comic book series from The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman.

From the moment Daryl pulled her mask off, Lydia was a tightly wound ball of contradictions. After a while it became clear that she’s an abuse survivor and her mother is setting up to be the biggest monster the show has ever seen. McClincy’s ability to convey so much emotion in her expression, especially through her eyes, is part of the reason she absolutely nails the character.
