The Walking Dead, Guardians: Things To Note

13) Helen is the third person we’ve seen Alpha kill this season, and the first in the present, since Matias and Frank were killed in a flashback to the beginning of the apocalypse.
14) Sean is the fourth person we’ve seen Alpha kill this season, and the second in this episode.
15) If Beta’s slang is standard amongst The Whisperers, they seem to refer to themselves as “The Pack”, which not only makes sense with Alpha and Beta’s titles, but also jives with Sean’s earlier use of the term “cub” to refer to Lydia.
16) In another display of the show seeking to dehumanize Alpha, while recounting a story to Beta of seeing Lydia in danger when she was three years old, just as Alpha appears to be about to show some parental concern for Lydia, she swerves, seeming proud that she hit Lydia (Hard, she makes a point of saying to Beta) rather than show her affection.
17) This episode gets its name from the term one of the Whisperers uses to refer to the dead as they attack the camp while Daryl sneaks in to rescue Henry and Lydia, “Guardians”. It’s likely a reference to the fact The Whisperers use the walkers both as camouflage, and a means of defense.
18) Additionally, “Guardians” is the second name The Whisperers have for the dead and the twenty-third (?) distinct name for them in the series.
