40. Washington

Known these days for Grey’s Anatomy and Fifty Shades of Grey, the city of Seattle might be too full of tourists to really find a place to be safe, though if you can make it there you’ll be set for life.

My suggestion: Head to Eastern Washington. Yes, the winters aren’t as mild as Seattle’s, and there’s still a lot of rain, but if you can make it to the Davenport in Spokane then you will be living your best life through the apocalypse.  Plus you’ll be in close proximity to Gonzaga University, and if you’ve ever seen the Kennel get wild for a Zags game, you’ll be surrounded by a bunch of people who won’t have any problem fighting off the zombies.

Seriously, though, Washington would be the kind of place you’d want to be after the zombie threat subsides. (And let’s face it, maybe you can return to Seattle after things calm down and claim Christian Grey’s fictional penthouse at the very real Escala Building. I mean, why not?)
