36. Washington D.C.

Characters from The Walking Dead took a trip to Washington DC at the start of season 9 to raid the national museums. It’s surprising that it took so long to do this because the museums offer a lot of possibilities.

To start, they’re built like fortresses. Secure a museum like the Smithsonian and you’re set. The other advantage is all of the stuff they have inside. Think of the swords and ancient weaponry you can find and learn how to make. The Smithsonian Castle would be a great fortress to live in while the gardens outside will offer places to grow food.

The art museums won’t have as much to offer by way of useful supplies, but you’ll find secure locations to hide and live in. And once things calm down you’ll be able to stop and appreciate the art collection.

The White House might be on your list of places to go if you’re in DC when the outbreak hits but that’s probably the worst place you can go because everyone will try to get there and there will be chaos. Best to stick to the museums, or at least find a spot near the museums and take a trip to the Smithsonian to pick up a few supplies.
