4. Arizona

Arizona is warm most of the year and there is plenty of wide open space and natural resources that make it an ideal place to take refuge from the zombies. The temperate climate is a major benefit, but not having air conditioning will be a challenge in the summer. However, if you plan ahead and find places that have save underground spaces, you’ll be in good shape.

The Grand Canyon is a majestic natural wonder, and it could be a great place to build a shelter. It’s isolated, which is always a benefit so that you can avoid both zombies and people who would like to take your stuff. There are natural defenses that could be used to keep zombies away from you. Imagine using a system of bells to lure zombies over the edge of a cliff.

Arizona is also home to half of Major League Baseball’s spring training programs, which means there is a network of ballparks spread across the state. These ballparks could be developed into communities that would have everything they need to keep the zombies out while allowing people to stay safe within their friendly confines. It’s a win-win for everyone. And there are lots of bats to use as weapons.
