50 States and DC ranked by Zombie Apocalypse survivability
2. Texas
Don’t mess with Texas. That’s all you need to know.
Fear the Walking Dead’s fourth season showed us that even after several years of the apocalypse Texas is holding up pretty well. Texas is flat, which will help you see the undead approaching your shelter. There’s a lot of open space so if you can get out of the city you’ll be out in the open where there won’t be as many zombies around.
People in Texas know how to defend themselves, so if you need to form a group find people like John Dorie who can handle both defense and offense. Texas places high on this list because if you need to protect yourself, you’ll likely find a supply of weapons nearby. Grab what you can, because you’ll need it.
The key to thriving in Texas during the apocalypse is to find a shelter that has enough open space to allow you to have a solid defensible space, but you also have to consider access to water. You can’t grow crops or raise livestock without water, and Texas has been known to have some pretty dry spells. You can fight zombies and scavenge for food, but there’s not much you can do without water.
