50 States and DC ranked by Zombie Apocalypse survivability
43. New Jersey
Don’t mess with New Jersey. If you can’t find table-flipping Real Housewives of New Jersey star Teresa Guidice to keep you safe (come one, you know you want to see her rage against the undead) you’ll no doubt be able to find plenty of places to hide.
With 130 miles of coastline, the Jersey Shore would be a scenic location to take shelter, but you don’t want to get to comfortable on the water because if a zombie herd comes then you won’t have any option, but to head into the water. Cape May and Asbury Park offer some historic Victorian buildings that have withstood the test of time, so if you can take one over and fortify the exterior, you’ll be set.
New Jersey is also home to Liberty State Park, which is where the ferries leave for Ellis Island. Ferries could be a nice option for a floating safe haven, and so too can Ellis Island. Be ready to defend the island from other people who would want to claim it for themselves,
