The Walking Dead episode 914 review: Scars are souvenirs you never lose
By Adam Carlson
Overall impression
This week’s episode of The Walking Dead was a bit of a bottle episode for Michonne. It focused on why she lost her trust for anyone and focused on protecting her family and the people of Alexandria before anything else.
Episode 914 cleared up the story of the scars on Michonne and Daryl’s backs as well, which has been a curious part of the story following the time jump when Rick made his exit. While the scars themselves weren’t a massive surprise, what happened afterward made them something unforgettable.
This episode didn’t completely forget at the current storyline though. It proved that the Whisperers are always watching and now they know the location of the fair. It will be interesting to see what happens now that Michonne is trying to be more open and accepting with the threat of Alpha nearby.
But the one key takeaway from “Scars” is that Danai Gurira is an excellent actress. The way she shifted her gears to go from happiness to concern and then horror and regret were entertaining to watch and really showcased her skills as an actress.
As a whole, there were some shocking moments from this episode and answered some questions, but it essentially only moved the main plot forward by putting Michonne and Judith at the fair as well as revealing that the Whisperers are on to the communities coming together as well as the location of the Hilltop.
EPISODE GRADE: 8.1/10
