The Walking Dead best fan reactions to episode 914: Scars

The Walking Dead finally revealed the origin of Michonne and Daryl’s scars in one of the best episodes of season 9 and fans had some emotional reactions.

The Walking Dead gave Michonne a chance to shine in an episode that focused heavily on what happened to her after Rick’s disappearance and what caused her to isolate herself and Alexandria from the outside world. The episode also featured some beautiful moments between Daryl and Judith, Michonne and Judith, and Michonne and Daryl.

It’s not an exaggeration to say that 914 “Scars” could be one of the best episodes that The Walking Dead has ever done. Fans waited a long time to find out what caused those X-shaped scars that Daryl and Michonne have and the reveal of what happened was devastating. “Scars” was one of those episodes that shows how good the show can be when the writing, directing, and acting all come together perfectly to create a transformative experience for the audience watching.

Seeing the aftermath of Rick’s disappearance, a pregnant Michonne, and how hard she struggled to keep her family together after losing the love of her life was emotionally difficult for fans, but the moments where Judith and Michonne finally talked about what happened and losing Rick and Carl were as affirming as they were sad. Fans got to grieve with these characters that they love and pave the way for future that Rick and Carl would want them to have.

There were some other bright spots as well, such as Michonne’s exchange with Negan where Negan showed that while prison may have mellowed him somewhat he’s still a shrewd judge of character who knows how to size up a situation instantly. That could make him a big asset in the Whisperer War that’s coming quickly.
